FDC™ 100% Pure Aluminum Sulfate | Dry Alum
100% pure Aluminium Sulfate is a water-soluble chemical compound that is mainly used as a flocculating agent or mordant agent. Use it for purifying water, dyeing fabric, printing textiles, cleaning pools or ponds, tanning leather, treating wastewater facilities, and other tasks that require commercial strength raw chemicals. Use it as a waterproofing agent and accelerator in concrete, to reduce the pH of garden soil, or as a foaming agent in fire extinguishers. Ensure safety by wearing gloves & goggles when handling.
- USE AS A MORDANT - Aluminium Sulfate is a dye fixative which sets dyes or stains into fabric and prevents dye from fading or washing out.
- USE AS A FLOCCULANT - Aluminium Sulfate causes a process in which fine particles clump together which can be useful in ponds, pools, and wastewater treatment centers.
- CONTROL PH - A highly acidic compound, this can be used to balance the pH in soil for acid loving plants or in pools to reduce the pH.
- PURIFY WATER - Removes impurities from water by clumping particles together for easy removal and filtration.
You wouldn’t allow trees to grow through your house's foundation, so why let them infiltrate your pipes? Foaming Root Killer will stop the problem in its tracks before it causes permanent damage to your plumbing.
Aluminum sulfate is added to water to remove impurities. It makes the impurities clump together and fall to the bottom of the container holding the water in a process called flocculation. The impurities are removed when the water is filtered. This is commonly used in ponds and pools to remove algae and in sewers to remove pollutants. Through this same process (flocculation) wastewater treatment centers can also help remove pollutants.
When hides of animals are processed to make leather, they are treated with chemicals in a process called tanning. During this process aluminum sulfate is mixed with sodium chloride (common table salt), flour and another salt called sodium carbonate and rubbed on the hides. The mixture sits on the hides for 24 hours before it is removed. This entire process is repeated several times. The mixture containing aluminum sulfate percents the hides from decaying.
Some fires are so intense like an oil fire, water won't be enough to put it out. You'll need a foam to extinguish the fire instead. Aluminum sulfate reacts with sodium bicarbonate (aka baking soda) producing foam with carbon dioxide in it. The carbon dioxide extinguishes the fire.
