3 Tough Stains Vinegar Can Get Rid Of

Trying to get a blood stain out of a white t-shirt? Or a coffee stain out of your carpet? Tough stains like these won’t come out without a fight. Instead of spending money on another over-the-counter cleaner, try using vinegar.

If you didn’t know, vinegar is cleaning magic! With a couple tablespoons of vinegar, those tough stains will lift right out of your carpet, shirts or sheets. Here’s what you need to do to take care of those settled-in stains:

Wine stains

Spill a glass of wine on your living room floor? Don't freak out. Wine stains are tough, but they can come out easily with a few ingredients in your pantry. Mix one tablespoon of white vinegar and one tablespoon of dishwashing liquid (like Ajax or Dawn) into a couple cups of warm water. Dip a cloth into the solution and blot the stain frequently until the stain disappears. Soak a paper towel or sponge in cold water, blot and let dry.

Coffee stains

Spilling coffee is an occupational hazard at this point. If you're in hot water because of your cold brew, mix one tablespoon of white vinegar, one tablespoon of dishwashing liquid and two cups of warm water together. Spray the coffee stain on your carpet and scrub until the stain begins to fade. Soak a sponge with cold water, blot the stain and let air dry.

Blood stains

Cuts and scrapes are just a part of life, especially if you have kids who like to get into trouble. Get blood out of your carpet or any type of fabric by dipping a washcloth in vinegar and blot the stain until it fades. Rinse material with water until vinegar smell dissipates.
