Have you ever wondered if there was a way to prevent ice and snow from sticking when winter weather hits, rather than having to shovel and apply ice melt after the fact? If so, we have great news for you – there is such a thing as pre-treating your surfaces! This process involves applying a solution to your paved surfaces before a snow or ice storm hits in order to prevent either from building up. Read on to learn how to use this tactic on your paved surfaces, and a great new product we’ve just released to help you prevent ice and snow build-up.
How does it work?
A snow & ice pre-treatment product comes in liquid form which is used to coat paved surfaces. The liquid is able to penetrate through the pores of your pavement, helping to keep snow from bonding to the pavement. This, in turn, helps to prevent the formation of ice and allows for better traction for both pedestrians and vehicles. It even helps to prevent black ice from forming, as it encourages water to evaporate before it can refreeze. If an abundance of snow falls it will accumulate, but because the surface has been treated it will be easier to remove – it’s like creating a non-stick surface on your pavement!
Magnesium Chloride – safer to use
While there are a few different formulations of pre-treat products available, the best of them are made using magnesium chloride. These products pose a lower risk of damaging grass and plants, meaning less of a worry about having to replant when winter weather gives way to spring. Magnesium chloride is also safer for the environment overall, as it won’t cause gastrointestinal issues in animals that accidentally ingest it, and it also won’t harm your pet’s paws like other leading snow and ice products.
A new product, great results
In order to help you pre-treat your paved surfaces, we recently released our specially designed Green Gobbler Snow & Ice PRE-Treatment, a 22% liquid magnesium chloride solution. It creates a non-stick surface that prevents snow from bonding to surfaces, making the snow removal process easier than ever before. It can be used on many different surfaces around your home, including your driveway, walkways, and stairways.
Our Snow & Ice PRE-Treatment is non-corrosive, and will not cause damage to concrete, pavers, asphalt, composite, wood, metals, and other surfaces. Application is simple: apply Snow & Ice PRE-Treatment prior to winter weather. If you apply it after snow or rain begins to fall, it will not work as it cannot bond with your surface. Use any handheld sprayer, backpack sprayer, industrial spraying equipment to spread the product evenly. One gallon of the liquid product will treat an area of 500 to 1,000 square feet.
